Practicing Ease, Reducing Pain: A Feldenkrais Workshop

Teacher: Fritha Pengelly

“The possibility of a pause between the creation of the thought pattern for any particular action and the execution of that action is the physical basis for awareness.” – Moshe Feldenkrais from ‘Awareness Through Movement’

Are you in pain and not sure what to do? Would you like to take a movement class, but not sure where to start? Moshe Feldenkrais said, “movement is life,” and most of us know that moving our bodies is essential to our overall health. So what gets in the way? We all develop patterns of action that become grooved habits, well-worn pathways in our nervous system. Sometimes these habits are inefficient and cause wear and tear in our joints and tissues – causing pain and discomfort. Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement classes offer a slow and gentle approach to changing old habits and encouraging new possibilities.

Workshop will include exploration of two Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lessons and will include time for discussion and questions. Come engage in the practice of learning how to find new patterns of action through using awareness to sense what these well-worn pathways are, and discover new options for moving. No experience necessary – all are welcome!
