Ohana School of Performing Arts is our October Community Partner of the Month!
Ohana means family! Ohana School of Performing Arts is a family that shares a passion for creativity, self-expression, love, and performance! It’s a place where you can experience life-enriching, all-inclusive classes that inspire children and adults to express themselves through movement, dream big, and change the world! We believe that each and every human being deserves the chance to experience dance. Ohana means no one gets left behind or forgotten. Spread the love!
Ashley Kohl, born and raised in South Hadley, knew from age two when she stepped on the stage that she belonged there. She took dance lessons in just about every genre of dance at The Dance Shop, later the Northeast Academy of Dance, and performed in recitals and dance competitions. At fourteen, when she was a student at Pioneer Valley Performing Arts, she began creating dances for her fellow students to perform. She went on to study at Wagner College, UMass Amherst and with a number of dance teachers in New York City.
She was co-host and producer of MASS APPEAL, the popular daily lifestyle program on WWLP Channel 22 for six years. Just over 1 year ago, she took over her mother’s dance studio, Technique Studio of Dance, and re-named it to reflect her mission: community and family. She is now the Creative Director of Ohana School of Performing Arts in South Hadley. Her favorite job and title is “Mom” to her two loves, Summer, 5 and Brody, 4.
